Robot Autonomy Engineer, Software

LocationIrvine, CA 92614PostedOctober 4, 2026Employment typeFull-time / In person

RobotX Inc. is an AI robotics company dedicated to enable robots to perform a wide range of tasks in both home and industrial settings—addressing challenges like labor shortages, dangerous jobs, and repetitive work. We are expanding fast, delivering next-generation humanoid robots, robotic dogs, and service robots to hotels, restaurants, schools, government agencies, and enterprise clients.

You will write the software that lets one brain drive many robots. Perception, navigation, task execution, and the glue between them — all of it has to work on real machines in crowded restaurants, warehouses, and job sites, not just in simulation.

Our Mission

To enhance human capabilities through advanced artificial intelligence.

Our Vision

To deploy autonomous robots globally and help solve critical challenges in the labor economy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement autonomy modules — localization, navigation, manipulation, and task planning — on top of the RX-Brain platform.
  • Port and tune autonomy stacks across humanoid, quadruped, and wheeled service robots.
  • Build simulation, replay, and automated test tooling so behavior changes are validated before they reach a customer.
  • Profile and optimize real-time performance on embedded GPUs and resource-constrained compute.
  • Instrument robots with the telemetry needed to debug issues from deployment logs.
  • Pair with field engineers on escalations and feed what you learn back into the stack.

Ideal Candidate

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field, or a B.S. with 3+ years shipping robotics software.
  • Strong modern C++ and Python; deep familiarity with ROS 2 or a comparable distributed robotics middleware.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of: SLAM, motion planning, state estimation, or behavior/task frameworks.
  • Comfortable owning a feature end to end, from architecture through on-robot validation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with hardware engineers, field teams, and non-engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying learned policies or foundation-model components on robots.
  • Familiarity with CUDA, TensorRT, or similar accelerated inference tooling.
  • Background in safety-critical or mission-critical systems.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance bonuses
  • Opportunities for rapid promotion as the company scales

Why Join Us

  • Work in one of the fastest-growing industries in the U.S.
  • Ship robots that run in real hotels, factories, campuses, and job sites — not just in a lab.
  • Be part of a forward-thinking team scaling nationwide robot deployments.
